Over £6,000 raised for children's hospice

Seven members of the Hilton-Baird Group have walked the 68 mile coastal path of the Isle of Wight to raise over £6,000 for Julia’s House children’s hospice.

After setting off from East Cowes on Friday afternoon, the team walked day and night to complete the challenge to raise money and awareness for this fantastic charity. Based in Dorset, Julia’s House provides crucial support to life-limited children and their families across Dorset and South Wiltshire. They look after sick children to give parents the time to perform their daily errands, run support events for mums, dads and siblings, offer emergency respite and overnight care, and provide emotional and practical support when the very worst happens.

In contrast to some of the larger charities, Julia's House receives just 7.5% of its funding from the government, relying on the public to help it raise the £3.9 million it requires to run in 2014. Thanks to the support of our friends, family and business partners, we have managed to raise over £3,000, with Hilton-Baird to match the final total.

Group CEO Alex Hilton-Baird said: “When we visited the hospice it was clear to see what a wonderful charity Julia’s House is. We wanted to do something memorable that would inspire people to donate and help them meet their £3.9 million fundraising target, and we could hardly have chosen something more difficult.

“It was a really tough challenge, but one that made everyone push each other to go further than any of us have ever done before. I think it was fitting way to raise awareness for the hospice and we’re thrilled with the total we’ve raised so far.”
