Swim challenge raises thousands

Hilton-Baird’s CEO has raised almost £6,000 for three charities after completing a trio of exhausting swims in the space of just three months.

After training for more than six months for what lay ahead, Alex Hilton-Baird took on the Great North Swim, Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim and the Dart 10k – a total of 17 kilometres – to raise money for Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Julia’s House children’s hospice.

It all began in Lake Windermere last June, when he completed the 5k Great North Swim in a time of 1 hour 45 minutes.

Next up he was joined by Hilton-Baird Financial Solutions’ funding consultant team leader, Andy Kelly, when they tackled the 1.4 mile Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim. After the initial date was postponed due to the weather, Alex and Andy took just 45 minutes and 38 minutes respectively to finish the course on a sunny day in Dorset.

And last weekend, spurred on by the fantastic sponsorship and support he had received, Alex completed the toughest challenge of all – the Dart 10k – in a superb time of 2 hours 50 minutes.

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to these three wonderful causes along the way. With your help, close to £3,000 has so far been raised, with the Hilton-Baird Group to match every donation. Your support will make a huge difference to the lives of so many people.
